Lindos
The current settlement of Lindos is found at a distance of roughly 48 kilometres Southern from the capital of Rhodes at the same place that possessed also the ancient city. The settlement has been declared as preservable and the visitor can have the picture of the village as almost in the old years. No cars or motorcycles are allowed inside the city which makes you walk around much easier! As you enter from the street that comes into the village from the North, you can find the unique square with the giant platen that is irrigated from the fountain with spring water and its manufacture dates from the season of Knights, even in the ancient time.
Landmarks
  • The ancient city and the Acropolis of Lindos. You can not find a better way to visit the old settlement and the ancient city than going up the hill with donkeys and crossing the entire village.
  • The small temple of Saint Paul, at the homonym harbour where according to the tradition it was the first place that he visited at the island in 58 AC as he arrived in order to proselytize the Christianity.
  • Archangel Michael’s temple, from the ages of Byzantium.

    The possibilities for staying in the city or around the region are good. As a visitor you also have the potentials to find good food in traditional taverns and coastal restaurants with fresh fish or local specialties, have fun in one of lot café bars or clubs which function in the village and the around near beaches. Beautiful souvenirs, handmade embroideries and many shops are also available for goods of gifts.

    Near Lindos are also found small coastal villages and tourist settlements that are worth to take a visit:
  • Vlyha, 4 kilometres northern
  • Pefki, 5 kilometres south- west
  • Lardos, 6 kilometres western
  • Kiotari, 16 kilometres south-western
  • Gennadi, 20 kilometres south-western
  • Access
    Daily buses are available from Rhodes town.
    Daily cruises with daily ships from the Mandraki of Rhodes in the “Limanaki” of Lindos.
    For those who own or have rented a yacht they can also use the harbour of Lindos.
